Ted D. Leiter, age 81 of Akron, Indiana died at 5:48 p.m. in the ER at Woodlawn hospital in Rochester, Indiana.
Teddy Dewayne Leiter was born on January 25, 1942 in Kosciusko County, Warsaw, Indiana to Roy and Willodean (Brown) Leiter. He attended Claypool High School.
Ted married Karen J. Kreighbaum on July 8, 1960 at the Akron Church of God. They lived in the Akron area all of their life celebrating 63 years of marriage.
Ted worked and retired from Zimmer in Warsaw, Indiana where he worked as a machinist. He enjoyed fishing, camping, building things, traveling and going to all of his grandkids sporting events. He attended the Silver Creek Church of God in Silver Lake, Indiana. He also helped the Earl-Love Funeral Home with funerals.
Ted was well known by many people for his loving, kind heart and wiliness to help anyone. A very humble man that shared his love and will never be forgotten.
Surviving Ted is his wife: Karen Leiter of Akron, IN; (2) daughters: Tammy Newman of Akron, IN and Tracey (spouse Jim) Moore of Mentone, IN; (1) son: Tim (spouse Cynthia) Leiter of Leesburg, IN; (1) brother: Jim (spouse Serta) Leiter of Arizona; (7) grandchildren and (14) great-grandchildren
Preceding Ted in death are his parents, (2) brothers: Pete and Ronnie Leiter and a son-in-law, Don Newman.
Visitation and viewing will be Saturday, November 25, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Silver Creek Church of God, 6504 W. 1300 S., Silver Lake, IN, 46982.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. following visitation with Pastor David Sullivan officiating and assisted by Pastor Tom Craig. Burial will be at a later date in the Silver Creek Cemetery.
