Sava Rudo

Sava Rudo, age 91, 10138 E. 100 N., Akron, Indiana, died on May 11, 2015 at Peabody Retirement Community at 6:15 p.m.

He was born on January 10, 1924 in Omaha, Nebraska to Mike and Catherine (Bless) Rudo.  He enlisted in the Navy on December 9, 1942 as a Seaman Second Class V-6 USNR and was medically discharged on March 3, 1943.

Sava married Barbara Holloway on July 4, 1953 at the Beaver Dam United Methodist Church near Akron.  He worked for Union Pacific Railroad and Drakulich Trucking, retiring after 26 years of service living in Akron.

Surviving Sava is his wife: Barbara Sava; (2) daughters: Sheryl (spouse Eric) Hayes of Omaha, NE; Sandra (spouse Troy) Smith of Claypool, IN; (1) son: Scott (spouse Jo-Anna) Rudo of Omaha, NE; (1) brother: Steve Rudo of Akron; (5) grandchildren (6) great-grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.

Preceding Sava in death are his parents; brother, George Rudo; sister, Amelia Novakovich.

Visitation will be Friday, May 15, 2015 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with the funeral service at 12:30 p.m. following visitation at the Earl-Love Funeral Home, 811 E. Rochester St., Akron, Indiana.  Officiating the service is Pastor Jeff Sumner of the Olive Branch Church.  Burial will be in the Nichols Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions can be made to the Salvation Army or donor’s choice.
