Roger D. Hughes

Roger Dale Hughes, age 65, of Macy, Indiana died at 2:49 p.m. at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Indiana on Sunday, July 18, 2021.

He was born to Clyde Hughes, Jr. and Mary Alice (Sartin) Hughes on October 19, 1955 in Peru, Indiana.  He graduated from Peru High School in the class of 1974.

Roger married Rita K. Mathias on October 22, 1973 in Mexico, Indiana.  They were blessed with three children and made their home in Macy, Indiana for 45 years coming there from Peru, Indiana.

Among some of Roger’s jobs included; being a produce manager, factory worker at Bendix Abrasives of North Manchester for 12 years and 17 years at Peru Hardwood.

Roger was an IU sports fan and Indianapolis Colts fan.

Surviving Roger is his wife: Rita Hughes of Macy, Indiana; (1) son: Ryan Dale Hughes (spouse Julie) of Macy, Indiana; (1) daughter: Rachel Kay Hester (spouse Matt) of Rochester, Indiana; (5) brothers: Rick (spouse Alice) Hughes of Peru, Indiana; JR (spouse Sandy) Hughes of Peru, Indiana; Charlie (spouse Jean) Hughes of Peru, Indiana; Tim (spouse Marion) of Kentucky; David Hughes of Peru, Indiana; (7) sisters: Sue Warth of Florida; Jane VanCamp of Missouri; Beth Scavo of Des Moines, Iowa; Sarah Mensing of Ohio; Lana (spouse Ken) Green of Des Moines, Iowa; Sharon (spouse Rudy) Crabtree of Nashville, Indiana; Jovanna (spouse Bill) Weeks of South Carolina; (1) sister-in-law: Mary Hughes of Michigan; (4) grandchildren.

Preceding Roger in death are his parents; son, Randy Lee Hughes; brother, Jack Hughes

There will be no services at this time with burial in the Gilead Cemetery at a later date.
