Philip L. Michael, age 71, 3153 Center St., Tippecanoe, passed away at 7:56 a.m. March 24, 2012 in his residence.
He was born July 1, 1940 in Rochester to Evan Michael and Mazie (Hanson) Michael. On May 20, 1977, in Rochester, he married Jennie Masterson, who survives.
Living most of his life in the Akron community, he lived in Tippecanoe for three years. He graduated from Hammond Tech High School in 1958. He was a machinist at Sealed Power, Rochester for 27 years. He was a member of the National Audubon Society, Fulton County Bass Club and Akron Lions Club. He sang in a gospel trio “New Wine” and attended the Akron Church of God and Riverview Community Church, Tippecanoe.
Survivors include his wife, Jennie; children: Rick Michael, RaeAnn Michael, and Mike Morgan, all of Fort Wayne, Wayne (spouse Shellie) Ash of Estill Springs, Tenn., Joe (spouse Melissa) Ash of Clarksville, Tenn., and Millie (spouse Nathan) Smith of Fort Wayne; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
His parents preceded him in death.
Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Earl-Love Funeral Home, 811 E. Rochester St., Akron, with a memorial service following at 7:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. Rod Ruberg.
