Margaret Louise Mort, age 84, Silver Lake, Indiana, died on June 27, 2025 at her son's residence at 5:57 a.m.
She was born on January 1, 1941 in Plymouth, Indiana to Floyd Hoffer Morgan and Lois Bell (Baker) Morgan. She graduated from Warsaw High School in 1959.
Margaret married Hugh D. Mort on June 19, 1971 in Pierceton, Indiana. She lived all of her life in the Silver Lake, Indiana area. Margaret worked at Chamberlains factory in Akron, Indiana and then at Mid-West Poultry where she retired.
She attended the Silver Creek Church of God where she served in events going on at the church. Margaret enjoyed spending time with her family, going to craft shows with her best friend Gerry. She liked traveling just to see what she could see, camping and liking her hot dogs done, the more burnt, the better. She liked to go bowling and watching game shows on TV.
Surviving Margaret are two children: Leonard (spouse Dawn) Gagnon of Silver Lake, IN and Wendy (spouse Michael) Shelpman of Silver Lake, IN; (1) sister: Jean Lursen of Leesburg, IN; (1) sister-in-law: Betty Morgan of Mishawaka, IN;
(6) grandchildren: Joshua (Marisa) Seitner, Silver Lake, IN; Nicholas (Crystal) Gagon of Akron, IN; Heather (Masyn) Derf of Claypool, IN; Christopher Gagnon of Marion, IN; Jeremy Gagnon serving in the US Navy and deployed; Marah Shelpman of Silver Lake, IN;
(9) great grandchildren: Noah Groves, Nadia Groves, Abigail Stratton, Maddyx Derf, Amelia Stratton, Conner Gagnon, Lucy Deft, Ava Gagnon, Ella Gagnon
(1) great great-grandchild: Grayson Groves
Preceding Margaret in death are her parents, husband Hugh Mort (2009), son Bruce Gagnon, brother Raymond Morgan, sister Donnabell Merica
There will be a Memorial Service at the Silver Creek Church of God on Friday, July 18, 2025 at 11:00 with one hour visitation before the service. Pastor David Sullivan will officiate and burial will be in the Silver Creek Cemetery at a later date.
