Jerry L. Baumgartner

Jerry Lynn Baumgartner, age 66 of Mentone, Indiana died on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at 10:55 p.m. at his residence.

He was born on September 28, 1953 to Wilbur and Margaret (Relue) Baumgartner in Rochester, Indiana.  Jerry graduated from Akron High School in 1971.

He married his high school sweetheart Debbie Beasley on July 22, 1972 at the Beaver Dam United Methodist Church.

Jerry moved from Akron to Mentone in June of 1987.  He worked at Sprint (North Supply), which was a telephone warehouse in Warsaw, Indiana and retired from there.

He attended the W.C.C. church in Warsaw, Indiana.  Jerry had an interest in many things and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and a variety of sports.  He especially liked NASCAR racing and his love for farming.

Surviving Jerry is his wife: Debbie Baumgartner of Mentone; son: Ryan (spouse Marti) of Bargersville, IN; daughter: Shari (spouse Rod) Rudd of Rochester, IN; mother: Margaret Baumgartner of Warsaw, IN; (2) sisters: Carol (spouse Bill) Sisk of Claypool, IN and Virginia Tuttle of Rochester, MI; (5) grandchildren: Sierra, Kailey, Rachel, Jakob and Benjamin.

Preceding Jerry in death is his father and a niece.

After four years of not feeling well and many illnesses and avenues researched, Jerry’s death was diagnosed as a rare degenerative brain disease called (PSP) Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.

For those who wish to honor the memory of Jerry, memorial contributions may be made to “Cure PSP” or Kosciusko Home Care & Hospice.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

For those who want to pay their last respects and express your condolences to the family, a gathering of friends and loved ones will be on Friday, January 31, 2020 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Earl-Love Funeral Home, 811 E. Rochester St., Akron, Indiana.

The memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m. officiated by Pastor Jeff Pfeifer and Chaplain Bob Jarboe.  Burial will take place at a later date.
