Donna Lou Carter, age 60, 326 W. High St., Montpelier, passed away at 4:27 p.m. Sunday, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center in Wells County.
She was born on Oct. 29, 1951 in Rochester to Dean and Marie (Wright) Mathias. On March 2, 1974, in Miami County, she married Mike Kenneth Carter, who survives.
Living in Montpelier for 13 years, she also lived in the Gilead and North Manchester communities. She graduated from North Miami High School in 1970. She worked at Heckman Bindery, Coffles Family Market and was a baby sitter. She and her husband were foster parents of several children for 18 years. She was a member of Niconza Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Carter; two daughters: Beth Carter of Upland and Maria (spouse Adam) Saldana of Montpelier; three sons: Jamie Carter of Marion; Dan Enyeart of Fort Wayne; and Doug Carter of Montpelier; one brother: Ray (spouse Lisa) Mathias of Roann; two sister: Rita (spouse Roger) Hughes of Macy and Virginia (spouse Steve) Kurtz of South Whitley; her mother, Marie Mathias of Roann; eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father; and two nephews, Randy Hughes and Dylan Carter.
Services are at 1:00 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2012 at Earl-Love Funeral Home, 811 E. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Wayne Balmer of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist church officiating. Burial will be in the Gilead Cemetery, Gilead.
Visitation is from 4-8:00 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012 at the funeral home.
