Dean Reed

Paul Dean Reed, age 67, rural Akron, died unexpectantly at his home on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at 1:31 p.m.

He was born on April 24, 1953 in Rochester, Indiana to Lloyd F. and Francis “Grethel” (Hutchison) Reed.

Dean had lived all of his life in the Akron area.  He retired in July of 2014 from DePuy (Synthes) Orthopaedics, later Johnson & Johnson in Warsaw, Indiana where he worked as a polisher.  He was married to Velvet Mannies and later divorced.  Together, they had four children.  He was a former member of the Akron Masonic Lodge.

Surviving Dean are (2) sons: John Dean Reed of Akron; Joseph Aland (spouse Kayla) Reed of Columbus, (2) daughters: Emilea Arine (Reed) (spouse Ron) Kenworthy of Poneto; Ashlynn Nicole Reed of Fort Wayne, (7) grandchildren: John Wyatt, Cody Dean, Emma Elise, Kora Jo, Cleyton Lane, Connor Aland, Faith Brooklyn, (2) brothers: Michael (spouse Mary Lou) Reed of Akron; David Reed of Austel, Georgia, (3) sisters: Marcille Needham of Wabash; Joyce Greer of Peru; Wanda Wildermuth of Rochester, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding Dean in death are his parents, (1) brother, James “Jim” Reed; (2) sisters: Marilyn Maynard and Carol Leedy; (1) granddaughter: Kali Marie Reed.

A public visitation with the family will be on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at the Silver Creek Church of God, 6504 W. 1300 S., Silver Lake, Indiana from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  The memorial service will begin at 1:00 p.m. officiated by Pastor Dave Philips with burial and committal service at the Silver Creek Cemetery.
