Constance “Connie” B. Loer, age 83, of Cardinal Nursing and Rehabilitation, 1121 E. LaSalle Ave., South Bend, and formerly of Akron, died Thursday at 2:20 p.m. at the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, South Bend.
She was born June 3, 1926, in Madrid, Mo., to David and Gracie Irene (Irvine) Redd. On Sept. 3, 1941, in Huntington, she married John Charles Loer, who died May 26, 1964.
Connie moved to Burket from Kokomo in 1958 and lived in the Kosciusko County area most of her life. She was a 1942 graduate of Swayzee High School. She was a night supervisor at Penguin Point on Detroit Street for more than 20 years, and worked in the shipping department at DePuy for more than 20 yeas also, retiring in 1994. She was a 4-H leader for several years and baked wedding cakes for people.
Surviving are three children: Bernard (spouse Liz) Loer of Kokomo; John “JR” (spouse Donna) Loer of Warsaw; and Brenda (spouse Mike) Zarembka of Granger; six grandchildren: Jeff, Terry, Stacy and Brandon Loer, Jennifer (Zarembka) Anderson and Marcus Zarembka; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ralph Redd.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 3, 2009 at Earl-Love Funeral Home, 811 E. Rochester St., Akron, officiated by Rev. Wanda Carter. Burial will be in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 2, 2009 at the funeral home from 4-8:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care or the Alzheimer’s Association.
