Charles W. Whittenberger
Charles William Whittenberger also, known as “Chuck” or “Bill”, 11005 E. State Road 14, Akron, Indiana, died on September 1, 2015 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
He was born on December 6, 1941 in Logansport, Indiana to Charles D. and Vena Bernice (Snyder) Whittenberger.
Charles lived in Akron for the past 16 years, previously living in Elizabethtown, Kentucky for 10 years and in Mt. Morris, Illinois for 25 years. He grew up in Akron, Indiana and graduated from Akron High School in 1959. He attended Indiana University and graduated from there in 1964. He married Carol Ann Rowland on November 2, 1969 in Silver Lake, Indiana.
He was a chemist for 25 years for Acme Resin in Oregon, Illinois and also owned and operated a Baskin-Robbins for 10 years in Elizabethtown and Radcliff, Kentucky. He also worked for Wal-Mart in Rochester, Indiana.
Charles was a member of the Moose Lodge #1107 in Rochester, Indiana and the Alumni of Indiana University. He loved sports and was a softball coach for the “Angels” team for 12 years when he lived in Mt. Morris, Kentucky. He was an avid collector of baseball cards. He and his wife attended and supported all the sporting events, girls and boys at Tippecanoe Valley High School. He made many trips to support his grandchildren who were involved in sports also.
Surviving Charles is his wife: Carol Ann Whittenberger of Akron; (2) daughters: Diana Carol (spouse Paul) Wright of Carmel, Indiana and Candance Louise (spouse Joey) Ballard of Glasgow, Kentucky. (4) grandchildren: Travis, Addison, Nolan, and Cody.
Preceding Charles in death are his parents; (2) brothers: Paul and Robert Whittenberger, (1) sister: Joyce Ann Whittenberger
Visitation will Friday, September 4, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Earl-Love Funeral Home, 811 E. Rochester St., Akron, Indiana 46910.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Jeff Sumner of Olive Branch Church of God, Roann. Burial will be in the Akron IOOF Cemetery, Akron, Indiana.
