Charles "Chuck" Coplen, age 86 of Akron, IN died on September 18, 2025 at Parkview North Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN at 3:34 a.m.
Charles Edward Coplen was born on March 9, 1939 in Akron, IN at the family farm. His parents are Richard W. Coplen and Marietta I. (Smith) Coplen. Chuck lived in the Akron area all of his life. He graduated from Talma High School in 1958. In his working career, he did several jobs. He had worked at Miller & Sons in Silver Lake, Culligan Fire Protection, and was self-employed doing excavating and plumbing.
On June 28, 1958, he married Antionette "Toni" Reed in Claypool, IN. He at one time was involved in the Silver Lake Lions Club and previously attended Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Surviving Chuck is his wife Toni of Akron, IN; (4) daughters: Kimberly (spouse Ed) Martin of Akron, IN; Kelly (spouse Kenny) Koser of Akron, IN; Kerri (spouse Jack) Warren of Silver Lake, IN; Kristi Coplen of Mentone, IN; (2) sisters: Martha Peterson of Rochester, IN; Nancy Derck of Antwerp, OH: (9) grandchildren and (18) great grandchildren
Preceding Chuck in death are his parents and sister, Pat Kistler.
Visitation will be Monday, September 22, 2025 at the Earl-Love Funeral Home, 811 E. Rochester Street, Akron IN, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The memorial service will follow visitation with Pastor Butch Troke officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Athens Cemetery.
