Carol J. Meeks

Carol J. Meeks, age 67, 309 N. Mills St., North Manchester, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2012 at 9:15 a.m. in her home surrounded by her family and is now with our Lord and Savior.

She was born July 14, 1944 in Lima, Ohio to Richard and Wava (Worthington) Ludwig.  On April 11, 1965, in Lima, she married P. Neil Meeks, who survives.

Carol lived more than 40 years in North Manchester, coming from Lima, Ohio.  She graduated from Lima High School in 1962, Manchester College in 1966 with a bachelor’s degree and earned a master’s degree from Indiana University in 1976.   She was an elementary school teacher in Ottoville, Ohio, and Manchester Community Schools, North Manchester.  She retired in 2007 after 38 years of teaching.  She was a member of North Manchester Order of the Eastern Star 69, where she served as worthy matron.  She was the district deputy of District 18 from 1985-86 in the Indiana Grand Chapter OES.  Carol was a member of the Retired School Teachers Association and Bachelor Creek Church of Christ, Wabash, and was a Sunday and Bible school teacher.

Also surviving are four children:  Eric L. (spouse Susan) Meeks of Cincinnati, Ohio; Richard P. Meeks of Lakewood, Wash.; Stephanie (spouse Bill) Schlegel of Israel; and Jonathan (spouse Heather) Meeks of Chicago, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; a brother, Bruce (spouse Fran) Ludwig of Juneau, Alaska; and a sister, Nancy Crew of Florida, Ohio.

A memorial service will be at 5:00 p.m. today at Bachelor Creek Church of Christ, Wabash, with the Rev. Solomon David officiating.  Burial will be at a later date.
