Larry L. Rohrer
Larry Lee Rohrer, age 71, Claypool, passed away Friday evening March 10, 2017 at his residence, doing what he loved best, bringing his wife of 52 years, Carolyn, safely home from yet another of their many life’s journeys.
Following Larry’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service, but there will be a public visitation and viewing at Earl-Love Funeral Home, 811 East Rochester Street, Akron, Indiana on Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Claypool with a private graveside ceremony.
Larry was born September 19, 1945 in Claypool to Noble and Myra (Scott) Rohrer. He graduated in 1963 from Mentone High School and a year later married the girl next door and love of his life, Carolyn Konkle.
Growing up on the farm put Larry’s keen ability to fix things to the test. Larry would eventually use those skills to form his own business; Larry’s Appliance Service, serving the North Manchester and surrounding communities for nearly 30 years. Larry didn’t meet a problem he couldn’t solve and was known for doing it the right way, endeavoring to educate along the way.
Larry loved and cared for his children and grandchildren with the same remarkable ability, helping them laugh when they wanted to cry, showing the way when life presented it’s many roadblocks, and always seeking the truth and bringing you along for the journey. He is loved and will be dearly missed. He made it home.
Larry is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his son Nathan and daughter Darla (Scott) Miller; his grandchildren: Chas Wilson, Brooklyn (Jack) Wilson, Ashley Miller, Madeleine and Hannah Rohrer; his great-grandchildren: Chaston and Alannah Wilson; his brother Leon (Darlene) Rohrer; his sister: Linda (Dave) Lock; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. Larry was preceded in death by his father Noble and mother Myra; his sister Janice Method and his daughter-in-law Lori Colvin Rohrer.
